Description
Krishna dances with Radha and the Gopis in the center of a celebration known as the Raslila, while from above the gods Indra, Brahma, and Shiva shower him and his multiple partners with tiny red and white flowers. In the ring, Krishna has replicated himself so that he can dance separately with each of the Gopis, whose ecstasy speaks to their passionate devotion. The women personify the impermanent feminine energy that brings life to the material world, while existence itself is understood as “Krishna consciousness.” Each of the Gopis in this circular dance, which is known as a mandala, believes that she alone is dancing with Krishna under the moonlit sky.
