GOD OF SUCCESS-THE DANCING GANESH
Ganesh is the most popular, amongst the gods- for the elephant God symbolises auspicious beginnings.his mount is the shrew known as MOOSHIKA. His elephant head has only one full tusk, while the other is broken. Some say Ganesh broke his tusk to write the Mahabharata to the dictation of saga vyasa. In Tamil Nadu and other parts south India wet clay image of Ganesh are brought and worshiped.
Ganesh is normally sculptured in a pair with the goddess Lakshmi who signifies wealth. Worship of Ganesh everyday brings success to one and all. While the Dancing Ganesha means a great deal to Hinduism, it is, as I previously stated, but one small drop in the vast ocean of Hinduism. Hinduism is very immense and explores different sides of religion and ways of thinking that other religions such as Christianity have not touched. The Dancing Ganesha did prove a lot about the people of India and more specifically how much they love their deities. Earlier I mentioned that people would wash their statues and leave them offerings. That alone shows little to none of the admiration that Indian society holds towards their deities. This small excerpt might better reflect their level of admiration: “Over the doorway of a temple or a house sits the plump, orange, elephant-headed Ganesha or the benign and auspicious Laksmī . Moreover, it is not only in temples and homes that one sees the images of the deities.
