As a folk artist, my work is inspired by the rich cultural heritage and traditions of my community. I strive to capture the essence of everyday life through my art, depicting the beauty and struggles of ordinary people in a way that is both authentic and relatable.
My creative process is deeply rooted in a reverence for the past, and I draw on the techniques and styles of earlier generations of folk artists. I use a variety of materials, including range acrylic colours, fabric colours, oil paints, soft pastels, poster & water colours on canvas, fine quality paper, MDF sheets & ply board, looking mirrors, etc.
to create pieces that have a timeless quality and a sense of history.
Through my art, I aim to connect with my audience on a visceral level, evoking feelings of nostalgia, longing, and hope. Whether it is a simple wooden sculpture, a hand-stitched quilt, or a colourful painting, each piece tells a story and invites the viewer to become a part of that story.
Ultimately, my goal as a folk artist is to honour the traditions of my community while also creating something new and meaningful. I believe that art has the power to unite us and to inspire us, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my work with others.
