Young Indian Folk Artist 2021
Young Indian Folk Artist 2021 is an international Children’s art competition and online exhibition for all budding young artists, presented by International Indian Folk Art Gallery (IIFAG) Australia.
IIFAG Australia is in pursuit of hidden gems to revive Indian Folk Art and artists around the world.
A$4000, TOTAL PRIZE MONEY*
Enrolment for Young Indian Folk Artist 2021, International Children’s Art Competition will be open from 14th Mar – 28th April 2021.
- *IIFAG is inviting children between the age of 9 To 15 years to participate in ten categories of Indian Folk Arts.
- One winner will be selected from each of these categories.
- Each winner will receive a A$400 cash prize, along with a certificate of recognition.
- All shortlisted young artists will also receive free membership to their own personal online gallery.

1. Artwork Submission
- Each artwork submitted must follow the unique styles, methodology, and theme of traditional Indian Folk Art.
- In order to qualify for a winning prize, there must be a minimum of ten artists in that category.
- The entrant’s parents/guardian is responsible to ensure the artwork is produced by the entrant and does not infringe the copyright or any other rights of the third party. The entrant indemnifies the organisers (IIFAG) against any loss resulting from a breach of these copyright violations.
- All submitted artwork must be completed in full.
- To validate the authenticity, all artists are required to record a minimum of 2-minute continuous video during the creation of artwork. All shortlisted finalists will be required to submit their video, should the artist fail to submit the video, IIFAG reserves the right to disqualify the artwork.
- All artworks must be signed, dated and clearly labelled with

- contact details,
- Size of the painting in centimeters. (IIFAG recommends a minimum of A3 Size painting)
- Approx. weight in grams (including packing)
- All artworks must be recent and not created prior to 1st March 2021.
- The entrant must be the owner of the artwork and it must be available for acquisition in order to meet the requirement of the acquisitive prize.
- Artist can submit up to five artworks, but no more than one will be selected for the final prize
- Once submitted, no changes can be made to the artwork. Should any changes be made after submission, IIFAG reserves the right to disqualify the artwork
- Artworks shortlisted for the final exhibition must be available for loan between 2021 and 2022, to display at nominated exhibition centres hosted by IIFAG. Delivery and collection of the artwork will be the responsibility of the entrant.
- As a finalist and winner, you grant IIFAG a fee-free, non-exclusive license to reproduce the artwork as necessary to publish or communicate it to the public
- Artworks may be offered for sale and will be recorded in a price list, the proceeds of the sale will go back to the Artist, less tax and commissions.
- Entrant may choose a list price for each artwork, including taxes and IIFAG’s commission of 10%
- The entrant’s parents/guardian on the behalf of Artist accepts to IndianFolkArt.Org
2. Shortlisting Process
- A panel of judges will shortlist entrants for the final exhibition based on technical scoring. This will be followed by public voting/scoring through IndianFolkArt.Org online portal.
- The selection criteria for judges will include the following
- Beauty in art
- Originality and Uniqueness
- Skill and technique (Use of traditional methods as closely as possible)
- Inherent meaning explained in the write-up
- Full filled intent of the theme
- Based on the overall scoring, Finalist and winners will be selected by the panel of judges
- All entrants will be notified as to the shortlisting outcome by email and through IndianFolkArt.Org online portal. The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into with IIFAG
- Shortlisted entrants will be required to complete and sign a loan agreement form, as part of accepting into the final exhibition
- The panel of judges has the right to exclude any artwork which it considers as defamatory or likely to cause offence or do not meet shortlisting criteria.
- Shortlisted winners should make themselves (or nominate a representative) and the artwork available for promotion of the prize, at the invitation of IIFAG
3. Exhibition of shortlisted and finalist
- Artworks shortlisted for the exhibition must be presented professionally, without any dirt or contamination
- Acquisitive prize recipients will agree to transfer full ownership of the artwork (excluding copyright) to IIFAG at no costs, to be housed and presented at IndianFolkArt.Org. The prize recipient will continue to retain all copyright in the artwork
- Placement of Artwork in the exhibition will be the decision of IIFAG
- IIFAG will be responsible for insuring the artwork during the agreed loan period for the artwork value nominated on the entry form
- Artwork may be offered for sale via IndianFolkArt.Org online portal based on entrants list price or higher
Who can apply?
- The prize is open to all solo child artist of the world
- The artist must be between the age of 9 to 15, as of 1st January 2021
- Must comply with conditions of entry
Key dates

- Qualification of entries closes: 15th May 2021
- Technical judging closes: 29th May 2021
- Public voting closes: 12th June 2021
- Winners notified: 19th June 2021
- Exhibition live to the public on 19th June 2021

Entry fees
- Non-refundable, $A10 (INR 550.00) per artwork, payable online via PayTM (Indian Artist) or Stripe, outside Indian using Credit/Debit card
- For additional artwork $A5 (INR 275.00) per artwork, with a maximum of 5 artworks allowed.
Qualification process
- All qualified submissions will be assessed by both, a panel of judges and via an online public voting system. Finalist and award recipients will be announced during the final online exhibition.
