This canvas depicts a awe inspiring mountain scene, captured at the first blush of dawn’s fiery arrival. The rich orange and red hues of the imposing mount overshadow the sage sitting in meditation deeply engrossed in his penance presenting a unique three dimensional perspective of the panorama. The canvas brings to fore the immense power of nature in comparison with Man who naively believes that he can control her. The contrast between the unimaginable power of Nature and the frailty of Mankind is further underlined by the pulsating, blazing colours used for the mount while the sage is shown in silhouette. The twin waterfalls, cascading down the rock face in a molten silver torrent temper the ruthlessness of the harsh, unforgiving rock.
