Description
The melody of love & universe. This artwork is an imagination by the artist Kanan inspired by what happens at Nidhivan, a forest near Vrindavan in India. The people living nearby believe that every night, the forest comes alive with Krishna’s Ras Leela. Nidhivan has baffled even scientists from different parts of the world and continues to be a mystery. This artwork is about a hypothetical day in Nidhivan, right after the night where Krishna has danced with the gopis and Radha is upset with him for doing so. Radha, who is on her way to fill water in her empty pots, sees Krishna sitting under the Kalpavruksh, trying to make up to her by playing his flute. Krishna communicates that they are above all the earthly feelings of jealousy and possessiveness. What they feel for each other is an undefined divine connection, setting the universe in motion. He doesn’t tell her this through words but makes her feel it through his music. He expresses that this divine connection feeds the Kalpavruksh at its roots and blooms in its flowers, filling Radha’s pots with pink lotuses, falling from the Kalpavriksh. The artist uses the pot as a symbolism for the human mind and the pink lotus for an ultimate state of enlightenment.
